In a world where magic replaces medicine, what would a doctor’s office look like? Enter Dr. Panacea’s Arcane Health Center. Wait to be seen by Dr. “Cure-All” herself in this cozy, magical reception area. Help yourself to freshly conjured Moondeer coffee or peruse the spell books and scrolls available in the seating area. Don’t forget to give Asclepius a scratch under the chin! He also loves snacks (snake snacks, if you will.) If you need any assistance during your time at the AHC, don’t hesitate to rub the lamp and our friendly genie receptionist will be happy to help you. She is also an expert in our stock of premium potions, powders, and healing remedies available for purchase.

This piece was completed for our June Creative Art Challenge organized at work. The theme was "Magic Replaces Science." I had been wanting to make a room environment for a while and thought this would be a fun way to do it. My goal was to create a cozy, comforting, whimsical mood which I tried to accomplish through my color choices and lighting. I wanted to work on my stylized modeling and texturing skills, so I tried to incorporate items with a wide range of shapes and materials. I also wanted to improve my ability to come up with an original concept and execute it. That being said, I tried to take care to make things believable and still somewhat grounded in a (magical) reality. Overall, I'm pleased with what I was able to create in a limited time frame. I certainly could have spent five times as long on this, but for me, these challenges are a great way to practice time management and the ability to accurately gauge and plan for efforts done under time constraints.
As part of this piece, I made these three different stylized tiling materials in Substance Designer. Every time I've had a chance to work in Designer I've loved it, so going forward I'm going to start making a conscious effort to grow that part of my 3D craft.

Here you can see one of my initial sketches along with some inspiration. I remained pretty true to my original design, but added additional components to balance the composition and fill out the scene a bit better.
This piece won the People's Choice vote and got 2nd place in the Judge's vote.
